I wanted to make something different. Since it is getting close to Halloween we had Reese's in the house. I made a chocolate cupcake and had planned to add either chocolate icing or chocolate syrup, instead I added both. The Second frosting is Peanut Butter Buttercreme. I topped it with cut up pieces of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and drizzled chocolate syrup on top of that.
This cupcake looks extremely sweet, but it isn't. I think the salty taste of the peanut butter really brings down the sweetness. I love it. Usually I can only eat two cupcakes from a batch, but I think I have had at least three this time. this is also the first time I came up with the cupcake completely on my own imagination.
What to make next?
Cake Inspiration
This is a collection of cakes that inspire me. I may post some of my own cakes, but in general they are not my creations.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cupcake
I wanted to make cupcakes today but wanted something different. I had Reese's Peanut Butter Cup candies. I decided to make Chocolate Cupcakes with chocolate frosting, topped with peanut butter buttercreme frosting, add bits of Reese Peanut Butter Cup candies, and Chocolate Syrup. I love how they look and they taste great. Not too sweet, but satisfying if you like peanut butter and chocolate. The extra chocolate frosting makes the difference and gives just enough richness.

Super Mario Cake
Making a ckae for my boys is never easy. I saw the Super Mario cakes and decided to give it a try. Who wouldn't love a cake like this? It makes me nostalgic for the old days. The cake was a complete surprise to my son and he really enjoyed it. The icing is fondant and buttercreme accents.

Elmo Birthday Cake
This cake is one of my favorite cakes I have made so far. I added fondant confetti to the cake to give it more character.
